Disappointed Susie concentrates on 200m

Following her shock exit from the women’s 100 metres when she was disqualified in the second round for a false start, Sri Lanka’s sprint queen Susanthika Jayasinghe will make a determined bid to overcome that disappointment when she faces the starter in the women’s 200 metres first round today at 7.10 a.m. (Sri Lanka time).
Jayasinghe is the sole entrant for her country at the 11th IAAF World Athletics championships in Osaka, Japan.

The Kit Premier League competition is in full swing with most of the clubs having got into their stride. The most interesting game of the week was when home town rivals Negombo Youth SC and Jupiter’s SC met. The Youth side emerged winners 2-1. This game was a thrilling affair from the first whistle till the last.


Defending champions Ratnam SC with the country’s best players in their ranks failed again. This time they went down to Sri Lanka Air Force 1/2. This was their third defeat of the tournament.Other results: Saunders SC beat Renown SC 2/0, Police SC drew with New Young SC 2-all, Java Lane SC beat Super Beach SC 1/0, New Star SC beat Matara SC 6/0, Cooray SC drew with Kalutara Park SC 2-all, Golden Stars SC beat Three Stars SC, Navy SC beat HyLine SC 1-0, Red Sun SC drew with Maligawaththa Youth SC.
