Govt. confident of crushing no confidence motion

Chief Government Whip Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle has expressed his confidence that the government will be able to successfully overcome the no confidence motion to be moved against them in Parliament by the main opposition United National Party.

Speaking at a function held in Katunayake yesterday, Fernandopulle pointed out, “We are not going to hide in fear, we are ready to debate the motion even tomorrow, and even if all the opposition parties in the Parliament vote against us, we will emerge victorious.”

“Ranil Wickremesinghe can become the Prime Minister and Mangala Samaraweera can become the deputy Premier, but Mahinda Rajapaksa will remain as the Executive President till 2011, and it is he who takes decisions,” he added.
