The
first ever south Asia Broadband Congress and Expo 2007 opens today
at the Cinnamon Grand with industry experts from SLT, Indian Institute
of technology, LIRNEasia, Cisco, Alcatel, Ericsson, Juniper, IBM,
Microsoft and Intel to name a few.
SABB 2007 will feature industry experts at the forefront of content
development and also provide information, insights and solutions
for a wide range of developments that are critical to application
and content developers.
At a grand opening ceremony today morning Minister of Posts and
Telecommunications, Rauf Hakeem, officials from partner sponsor
SLT and other sponsors will unveil the much awaited Congress and
Expo 2007.
SABB 2007 will commence with plenary session keynote addresses by
Minister Hakeem, Priyantha Perera, Chief Marketing Officer, SLT,
Dr Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Professor of the Department of Electrical
Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India, Dr
Rohan Samarajiva, Executive Director of LIRNEasia, Natarajan Rajkumar,
Country Head, Cisco Sri Lanka and Dr Zoran Miljanic, President TNI.
Dr. Zoran Milanic President Technology Networking International
(TNI), LLC, says that the Sri Lanka telecommunication industry is
one of the best performing sectors of the economy and that the Congress
is strongly supported by many economic associations and government
institutions. SABB will provide the venue for sharing the experience
among the telecom operators and internet service providers in South
Asia region, promote the broadband technology benefits to the end
users, and educate participants on the number of aspects of this
complex technology.
Dr Miljanic has over 20 years of industry experience in computer
and communications technology, with technical and management roles
of increasing responsibility in IBM T.J Watson, Bell Labs, NEC Labs,
Network Machines, Velio Communications and Conexant Systems. He
is co inventor of the classical Foschini-Miljanic algorithm for
power control based distributed channel allocation in cellular wireless
networks and was the lead architect for the number of systems and
semiconductor products: gigabit switches, multimedia communications
platform, video server, and network processors.
