Sri Lankan Orange Electric lights up in Malaysia


Fully Sri Lankan family owned electrical switch, socket and accessories manufacturing giant and exporter Orange Electric stole the show at the GLOBAL SME exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with its futuristic designed stall and high quality products.


Sri Lanka Export Development Board Chairman Brian Agunawela led a team of 20 Sri Lankan companies to participate at The Global SME exhibition from September 6 to 9 at the MATRADE Exhibition Center organized by SME Corporation of Malaysia in association with the Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. Orange Electric, who has a strong base in Malaysia, sent a team of 4 managers led by Thandula Goonawardena (International Business Director),Tyrell Roche (International Finance Manager),Shabeen Shakoor (International Business Development Manager) and Thilan Premathileke (Communications Manager). Over 300 exhibitors from 7 countries participated in this exhibition which attracted over 10,000 B2B visitors from the ASEAN region.


In a short period of two years, Orange Electric created a significant presence in the global market as a supplier of high quality electrical switches and sockets. “The objective for Orange Electric to participate in this exhibition was to create a dominant presence in the ASEAN region, so as to attract new business leads from the fast growing markets of Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia,”said Ananda Rajapakse (CEO International Operations) of Orange Electric who now leads the export thrust of the company.
