CIM Professional Series to talk on database management

The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region has organized a training programme on Effective Database Management titled “The Database - Quintessential Technology for Everyday Marketing”, which will be held on 16th October 2007 at Palm Lounge, Galle Face Hotel, Colombo. This programme will be conducted by Mr. Ian Ramsden.


The programme has been organized under the “CIM Professional Series” with the objective of apprising marketers of the growing importance of effective database management as a vital direct marketing tool. The programme is designed to give an in-depth understanding of database management, which will cover the basics of database management to how an organization could populate and use a database to create business.


The presenter, Mr. Ian Ransden possesses over 30 years of experience across the adverting industry, having held various portfolios in some of the leading international advertising agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather Advertising (UK), Stewart & Jefferies Advertising(UK), Dewe Rogerson - Financial Advertising & Marketing (UK), Saatchi & Saatchi (UK), FCB Direct. Mr. Ramsden began his entrepreneurial endeavours when he launched the HotHouse Direct Marketing Agency, London and Direct Solutions Ltd, Sri Lanka. He is a life Fellow of The Institute of Direct Marketing and a Member of the UK – Sri Lanka Business Council. He is a lecturer specialized in Direct Marketing and Customer Relationship Marketing and has shared his immense knowledge and experience in direct marketing and database management at a number of training programmes both in Sri Lanka and abroad.


The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region has initiated the CIM Professional Series in order to assist its members to achieve the next level in their professional careers and to keep them up-to–date with the latest developments in the marketing profession.

“The Database- Quintessential Technology for Everyday Marketing” is the third programme to be conducted under the re-vitalized CIM Professional Series. The Institute is now geared to conduct these programmes more frequently under its new strategic intent, in order to extend the benefits to its members and the marketing fraternity at large.
