PC Pharma to market Bdesh Square Pharmaceuticals products

PC Pharma, a reputed pharmaceuticals company in Sri Lanka, has entered into a strategic partnership with Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (SPL) a Bangladeshi drug manufacturing company, which is ranked fifth in the world, according to WHO ratings.

The recently signed agreement would allow PC Pharma to distribute and sell a wide range of new, high quality drugs, which are produced under stringent quality control measures, in state-of-the art SPL production facilities in Bangladesh. These production facilities are certified by UK Medicine Registration Authority (UK MHRA), USA FDA, EMEA and by ISO 900:2000 system.

PC Pharma has carved a niche for itself in the local market and is considered as a strong player in the drugs/devices/neutraceutical category in Sri Lanka. Its portfolio includes both western and non-western (herbal, ayurvedic) products/formulations sourced from reputed suppliers across the globe.

PC Pharma Chairman S.H.M. Rishan, commenting on the Company’s recent developments said, “Although PC Pharma is relatively new in the local pharmaceuticals market, we are very proud to state that we have managed to link up with Square, which is considered as one of the best and largest pharmaceutical product manufacturers in the world. We have identified that there is a serious vacuum for superior quality drugs in the local market that can be purchased at a reasonable price. With this partnership we are sure that we can fill up this vacuum to a considerable level. Further, we are sure we will be able to add value to the industry by making drugs available at the right time, in proper quantities and at affordable prices.”

At present, Square exports their products to 20 different countries including the EU and has a yearly turnover of USD 101.90 million with a 14.3% annual growth. Square Pharmaceuticals has strategic technical collaborations with industry giants such as Janssen Pharmaceuticals of Belgium, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson USA and F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd., of Switzerland.

Commenting about the distributor agreement, SPL marketing Director M. Haque said, “We are proud to have PC Pharma as one of our strategic partners. In order to support our global expansion strategy, we were looking for a partner in Sri Lanka.

After considering many applications, we decided to partner with PC Pharma because of their dynamic customer oriented culture, commitment to quality, superior networking skills coupled with financial capabilities. We are quite sure that this partnership will bring in mutual benefits for both companies.”

Square drugs will enter the Sri Lankan market during this month and PC Pharma will be distributing these products Islandwide through their already established and new/direct distributor networks. PC Pharma, although a new entrant to the pharmaceuticals and healthcare market in Sri Lanka, has already carved a niche for itself as a convenient, value for money supplier and is establishing the position of forceful player in the industry. PC Pharma would be initially concentrating on launching cardiovascular, respiratory, dermatological, antibiotic product categories and special niche molecules of the Square range. Several other innovative products and healthcare concepts from SPL will be introduced in the near future.

PC Pharma is a subsidiary of the heavily diversified PCH Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. that has ventured into other sectors such as hardware assembling, healthcare, office automation, consumer electronics, software, audio visual, restaurant, automobiles and property development.
