Bank of Ceylon launches Prestige Plus

Revolutionary current account for professionals and executives

Industry giant Bank of Ceylon last week showed its aggressive strategy by launching a revolutionary current account branded “Prestige Plus” specifically for the demanding Professionals and busy Executives.
The BOC Chairman Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe said the new account comes with a range of novel features and an array of benefits.


Professional, such as doctors, engineers, lecturers, accountants, architects, consultants and lawyers who are operating on their own or in employment with an institution or an organisation can open a ‘ BOC Prestige Plus’. Also executives, employed in private or government sector, drawing a minimum monthly gross salary of Rs. 40,000/- are also eligible to open a ‘ BOC Prestige Plus’.


BOC has also offered the option of opening a joint account under this new scheme provided that one of the account holders satisfies the basic eligibility criteria. Spouses, parents and children over 18 years may join in as a joint account holder.


BOC Prestige Plus’ can be opened in any of the 300 BOC branches countrywide while the greatest advantage is that 289 of those branches are linked through an on-line network.


The Bank also said that the age-old practice of calling for an introducer of the applicant for a current account is a legal requirement but for Prestige Plus flexibility has been added to the procedure. “Just a BOC current account holder, the employer or head of the department could act as an introducer. Further the application has been simplified with customer convenience in mind,” the Bank said.


The initial deposit to open Prestige Plus is Rs.30,000 and the minimum monthly balance to be maintained in the account is Rs. 10,000.
Among the privileges and benefits on offer under BOC Prestige Plus are each account holder will be issued with a personalised cheque book, VISA electron debit card, BOC credit card - free of joining fee and access to host of products and services in the BOC product range. The credit card will have an initial credit limit of Rs.100,000/-, but the limit could be enhanced to match your requirements with effortless ease.
“BOC Prestige Plus could become the gateway to meet all credit needs weather it be personal consumption loans, housing loans or leasing facilities. Further, BOC Prestige Plus is capable of providing with that IT edge through SMS and Internet Banking too,” the Bank said.


In addition to these, BOC Prestige Plus account holders will have the option of purchasing a Life Insurance cover of Rs.5.0 Mn from Ceylinco Insurance at a specially discounted annual premium. The policy will cover accidental death, permanent or partial disbursement on a worldwide basis

Further BOC Travels has come up with a very attractive offer, which is exclusive for BOC Prestige Plus account holders. They can purchase air tickets from BOC Travels for a consideration of cost plus Rs.l,000/-.
Explaining further on the benefits of VISA Electron debit card, the Bank said it is offered free. VISA Electron debit card provides the convenience cashless shopping and allows access to numerous service points such as super markets, airlines, hotels, hospitals, universities etc. coming under the VISA Global network. Also VISA Electron debit card can be used to withdraw funds from designated accounts, subject daily limit as large as Rs.1 00, 000/-.


Dr. Wickramasinghe said BOC Prestige Plus’ assists the busy professionals and executives to cope with their valuable time. “BOC Prestige Plus backs you up with on-line capability of its island wide branch network and makes any branch your branch,” he added.
Visa Electron and the BOC Credit Card will also enable a customer to step into the cashless society.


Furthermore SMS and Internet facilities will enable customers to transact with the Bank from the convenience of home and empower customers to have a say over time at their disposal. Placing an order for a cheque book, transferring funds from an account to, another, inquiring account balance will matter of minutes confined to a few key strokes.
