NDB Bank’s Indrajit gets Brand Leadership Award

NDB Bank Vice President, Head of Retail Banking and Marketing Indrajith Wickramasinghe (right) with the Brand Leadership Award presented by Sheikha Lubna Al.Qasimi Minister of Economy UAE at the annual sessions of the Congress held in Mumbai recently.

NDB Bank’s Vice President, Head of Retail Banking and Marketing, Indrajit Wickramasinghe was a recipient of the prestigious Brand Leadership Award this year presented by the Asia Brand Congress, a non-profit making activity aimed at a professional cause of development and growth.

The award has been made in recognition of Mr. Wickramasinghe’s professional efforts in helping build brands. In deciding on award winners, the Asia Brand Congress independently collects data and information about individuals who understand brand management and brand evolution to meet new market challenges and whose strategic thinking and integration strategies help to build brands.

NDB Bank is one of the fastest growing commercial banks in Sri Lanka, successfully transforming itself from a leading project lending bank to a universal bank within a short space of time. Innovation and technology have been the hallmarks of NDB Bank and the rapid expansion of the branch network has helped the customer to enjoy a superlative service from its highly customer oriented staff. In addition to the wide array of products, NDB Bank recently introduced an innovative product - ‘eZ Pay’, South Asia’s first mCommerce (Mobile Commerce) initiative which is a revolutionary service that allows consumers to purchase goods, pay bills, transfer money and perform banking transactions via their mobile phones. The Bank has also launched a special savings account - ‘Vishmitha’ - offering zero-percent interest loans for the first time in Sri Lanka.

Elaborating on the Brand Leadership Award, Asia Brand Congress Global Chairman
Richard Gaynor says the Congress which is represented by 60 countries around the world, aims at a rendezvous of the best brains behind some of the world’s most successful and sought-out brands. It attempts to provide a platform for networking and experience sharing on the latest trends and best practices in marketing and challenges in brand building.

The criteria in selecting individuals for the award includes the fact that not much is written about the professionals in the media and that internal perception within the organisation and external perception is balanced on credibility, achievement and value contribution to the business. The track record of performances and achievements is also taken into account.

With extensive management experience having been in both the FMCG and financial services sectors, Mr Wickramasinghe is a member of Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and holds a MBA from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura.

The Brand Leadership Award was presented by Sheikha Lubna Al.Qasimi Minister of Economy UAE, at the annual sessions of the Congress held in Mumbai on the 26th of September. This year’s theme was ‘Ensuring brand clarity and consistency in today’s multi-channel world’.
