50 Lankan teens to attend 2008 Future World Leaders Summit in USA

In July next year, 50 promising Sri Lankan student leaders will travel to the USA for the 2008 Future World Leaders Summit to be held at the prestigious Georgetown University in Washington. D.C. During their 8-day stay in Washington D.C., these aspiring young leaders will attend seminars inside the US House of Representatives (US Parliament), US Dept. of State, World Bank, Organization of American States and the US Defense Academy. Over 350 Sri Lankan student leaders from 36 leading schools in the country have experienced this unique week in Washington D.C. that gives a competitive advantage to obtain financial scholarships to most American Universities for higher studies.

This Summit held annually at Georgetown University, offers 500 student leaders from 40 countries the opportunity to interact with Washington insiders including Members of the Congress. These student leaders 16 to 19 years of age are nominated by their school principals and sponsored by their parents to participate in this summit. “Since year 2000 Sri Lanka has been participating as a full country delegation and over 350 Sri Lankan students have experienced this amazing week in the American capital” said Ananda Rajapakse the South Asia Representative for Presidential Classroom Inc USA, the organizers of the summit.
