Budget brothel raided

By Rathindra Kuruwita
The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) raided a suspected brothel at a budget hotel in Colombo 3 and arrested 10, including eight women, suspected to be prostitutes.

“Two out of the eight women are foreigners,” Police Spokesman DIG Jayantha Karunarathne told The Bottom Line yesterday. “We received information about the illegal activities by the residents of the area and we took immediate action,” he added.

He added that it is difficult to say how long this has being going on, and expressed hope that upon further investigations, the police will be able to unearth more details in this regard.

“Almost all of the alleged prostitutes are young women between the ages of 20 to 25 and they are from the suburbs of Colombo,” he added.
