Mobitel bowling champs


Mobitel emerged winners in the first ever Mercantile Rugby Football Association Bowling Championships, sponsored by Power Scan held at the Strikes Cosmic Bowling Centre, Excel World on Friday.


Thirteen teams, comprising four men and one woman per team, participated in three rounds of bowling with Mobitel (693), John Keells (568), HSBC (549) and HNB (531) qualifying for the finals.


Results of finals

1st Place: Mobitel 629 points - Christopher Rebert (150), Fahad Fassey (123) J. Prasad (114) Rohan Kaluarachchi (158) and Ishara de Silva (84).
2nd Place: John Keells Group 588 points - Achalanga Ayagama (185), Shanon de Silva (97), Suranga Pushpakumara (86), Roshan Opatha (120) and Vishadini Fernando (100).
3rd Place: HNB 568 points - Wendall Labrooy (119), Nalin Dissanayaka (176), Mahesh Wijenayake (97), Romesh de Livera (96) and Natalie Fernandez (80)


Special Awards

Most outstanding player and highest scorer in the tournament (men) - Achalanga Ayagama of John Keells.


Best player and highest scorer (women) - Anneline Joseph of HSBC.
Awards were presented by Kishin Butani Patron MRFA, Lalith Hewage Managing Director Power Scan and President MRFA, Bakhthi Hewage Director Power Scan, Nishantha Wickramage former President MRFA and Tournament Co-ordinator, and Roshan Tissera, senior Vice-president MRFA and Tournament Referee.
