Central Finance celebrates 10 years of Radio program


Central Finance recently celebrated 10 years of its highly successful program ‘CF Connection’ in the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) radio channels.


On Saturday, October 30, 1997, there came over the airwaves of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation a unique one-hour program - CF Connection.

The brainchild of Sunil Simon, it featured a different blend of music, lively conversation, short messages on finance and services of the sponsor and a group of 5-6 individuals who contributed to the program in his or her own way. Viran Corea, Indrani Senanayake and Kumar Samuel hosted the program with the production and compilation by Sunil Simon.


Other hosts from 1998 to 2003 included Dayan Candappa, Manoj Hettiarachi, Manisha Dias J, V. Rajendra, Yusuf Noordeen, Daphne Charles, Clifford Richards, Nelum Herath, Rukshan Kuru Uthumpala, Nayanalie Dasanayake, Sonali Perera, Sunil Simon, Dasman Wijesinghe, Niranjan Abeysundara and Lakmini Manatunge.


Commenced as a one hour program on SLBC’s Commercial Service and currently being aired every Saturday from 1030-1200 with 90 minutes of pure entertainment.


The program empathized initially with their main product ‘Leasing’ with the theme ‘Leasing so pleasing with Central Finance!’ A string of products emerged thro the years and launched with the program.

Deposits/Savings/Car Hire/Insurance/Housing/ Vehicles, to name a few.
Spreading the word of its Product and Services and ‘How To Grow & Prosper - Central Finance’ with their Branch Network all island.
“We have successfully interacted with listeners making them customers and potential buyers of various CF products through the program. This includes CF Connection in Sinhala broadcast on The Sinhala Welanda Sewaya of the SLBC,” a CF spokesman said.


Initially targeting a matured audience, CFC steered towards a diversified listenership with an equally diversified product range.

The program contains a series of tunes from the past to the future catering to a wider audience.


“The program carries a message from the sponsors, Central Finance and its products and pure entertainment which has spread throughout Sri Lanka. Our caller data base covers all island through the years and have given thousands of prizes.

The caller participation is very popular ranging from The Private/Government Sector, NGO’s, Consulates, Self Employed, Households, Young/Old and ironically from the financial sector with varied interests,” a spokesman for SLBC said.


The program has provided the listener (in this case a potential customer) of managing financial products from Central Finance to ‘Grow and prosper’ as well as family entertainment at its best with news from the Past/Present/Future music scene.


The CF Connection looks forward to introducing new innovations and products and services benefiting SLBC listeners to be presented through CF Connection and a changing program format for the future for the young and old, with listener participation as a paramount objective.
