Melanie Bennett from Cinnamon Grand won the coveted trophy for the ‘Telephone Operator of the Year 2007’ competition organized by the Lions Club of Colombo, Elvitigala, in collaboration with Metropolitan & Erickson last week. Nominees from Dialog Telecom PLC and Lanka Bell Pvt. Ltd. were adjudged second and third, respectively.

The prestigious competition is an annual event and was open to all industries, and organisations including other five star properties and telecommunication service providers. Over 58 competitors vied for this prestigious award this year. One of the key elements of the competition was a series of written, oral and practical tests, including a special project related to telephone operations covering a three week period.
