Clancy is World’s best CIMA Tutor of the Year

Sri Lanka’s M.M. Clancy Peiris attached to the Wisdom Business Academy, Colombo, was adjudged world’s best CIMA Tutor of the Year 2007 by the global charetered management accountancy body.

Clancy, who is a Director and Senior Lecturer at the Wisdom Business Academy, was the only Sri Lankan individual to win an award at the annual CIMA Financial Management Awards 2007 held in London last week.

Last year too, Sri Lanka produced the best Tutor of the Year with the award won by Gajendra Liyanaarachchi of the Virtual Business School.
Clancy won the award beating others globally as well as two Sri Lankan nominees Senaka Kakiriwaragodage, NDB Investment Bank (NDB Investment Bank), and Hasitha Premaratne (Wisdom Business Academy).

Thanushka Jayasundera, HSBC Sri Lanka was the other individual Lankan nominee for part qualified of the year award.

CIMA said that successful students are usually a product of successful tutors and this award is about celebrating those who go out of their way to inspire and guide the next generation of management accountants. The judges were looking for a mix of best practice training programmes for CIMA students, excellent results and positive student testimonials.

CIMA in selecting Clancy Peiris as the Tutor of the Year said he impressed the judges with the best practice methods he employs to teach and support his students. “Using mind-mapping and other innovative tools, he spurs his students to overcome barriers around language and exam technique using his scientific approach and constant personal support and involvement with individual students,” CIMA said.

“The result is exceptionally motivated students and very high pass rates compared with the country national average in Sri Lanka, his home country, particularly at Certificate level but going right up to final level of the professional qualification,” CIMA added.
