IT sector camaraderie through cricket

The P. Saravanamuttu Stadium saw a host of high flying sixes and wickets tumbling as the Sri Lanka Computer Vendors Association (SLCVA) hosted the local IT sector to its Annual Cricket Tournament on November 24th and 25th.

Intel was the main sponsor of the event for the third year running, along with Reddington Lanka Pvt Ltd who was a sponsor entrant for this year’s event.

“Thanks to Intel we have been successful in organising the tournament for the past three years. Each year has been better and we hope with the support of all our sponsors we will continue to build better relationships among our IT vendor community,” said Sajith Nawaz Project Chairman SLCVA.

Indika De Zoysa, Regional Sales Manager for Intel Sri Lanka expressed his pleasure at the far reaching effects of the tournament. He said: “SLCVA plays a key role in the growth of Sri Lanka’s emerging IT sector and Intel is proud to join hands with them for this initiative. Events such as this are a good way to build bridges for better communication amongst the companies and also open up new avenues to grow your business.”

The recent years have seen an exceptional increase in the number of participants at the tournament, with as many as 100 teams participating in the 2007 event. In fact the 2007 tournament was made into a two-day event; creating a weekend of team spirit and fun for the entire family.
