HSBC enhances internet banking service

Unveils world class standards and features for both personal and business customers with new comprehensive web site

HSBC has once again demonstrated its services excellence with the launch of its enhanced Internet Banking Service for Business and Personal banking customers from 3 December 2007.


The enhanced services have been integrated with the new look and feel of its website which will provide customers a whole new experience of on-line banking.


The advanced technological innovations instilled through global knowledge and local expertise, will enable HSBC customers to make banking transactions 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year from anywhere around the world.


HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives CEO David J H Griffiths said: “HSBC has always been at the forefront of innovations with many ‘firsts’ in the industry which has resulted in the bank winning the Best Internet Bank Award for Sri Lanka, two consecutive years. The enhanced Internet Banking services will re-define business and personal Internet banking in Sri Lanka, whilst enabling customers to experience world-class on-line banking solutions at their fingertips.”


The enhanced Internet Banking proposition from HSBC integrates the Bank’s Website and transactional banking services in one service offering to both its Personal and Business Banking customers, a novel concept by HSBC. These will be offered with a guarantee on security measures to allow “peace of mind” to its customers backed by HSBC’s unparalleled security standards and the security token that the Bank was first to introduce in Sri Lanka.


The newly enhanced ‘Personal Internet Banking’ service will present a full suite of online banking features to its customers. Allowing utility bill payments with the use of a HSBC credit card, facilitating credit card statements electronically and assisting customers with updates on personal information immediately are some of the latest embellishments.


In addition to many new services offered through Personal Internet Banking, information on account and credit card balances, transaction inquiries and fund transfers, credit card payments, opening of savings accounts and fixed deposits amongst many others, will also be available.


The “Business Internet Banking” service will bring superior multiple benefits, which will work to deliver a wide range of services enabling greater convenience to customers. These include transferring of funds, utility bill payments, opening of term deposit accounts, assigning limits, ordering chequebooks, as well as import and export transactions on business documentary credits.


Transfer of funds within your own HSBC account and to third parties, within HSBC or other banks is also made possible through this service; what’s more, customers will now have the facility of saving a transaction and creating a future dated transfer or a recurring payment. Payments of utility bills can be made online with multiple payment options with the facility of setting up, modifying and cancelling recurring payments.


HSBC for the first time will allow businesses to assign limits to secondary users to access and perform transactions. And of many unique services offered, import and export transactions can also be safely transmitted with documentary credit applications and amendments, for onward processing.

Special features and improvements have been introduced to HSBC’s corporate website integrating the new services, to provide customers with an enjoyable and informative on-line experience.
