Phoenix
Industries gets Super Brand status
Phoenix Industries, the market leader for providing plastic solutions,
with a 30 year history, has been justifiably rewarded with Super
Brand status.
We have lived up to our slogan of Phoenix, The Name
for Plastic, and we are indeed gratified to be awarded Super
Brand status, CEO Phoenix Industries, Hasith Prematillake
said.
In fact Phoenx Industries was recently awarded 3 Golds for their
Storage Boxes with Wheels, Nestable / Stackable Jumbo Crates and
Plastic Fish Crates at the recently concluded Lanka Star Packaging
Awards as well.
Prematillake went on to say that since 1862 when Alexander Parkes
carved for himself a niche in the history of inventions, when he
unveiled the first man made plastic at the Great International Exhibition
in London, plastic had come a long way. In todays world
life without plastic is well nigh incomprehensible in view of its
functionality in our daily lives. From the moment we wake up it
is plastic in the form of our toothbrush, at breakfast you encounter
food and beverage in plastic packs, your lunch is in a plastic box,
your favourite ice cream comes in a decorative plastic container,
you doctor prescribes you medicine which comes in plastic blister
packs; the list is endless.
Phoenix serves a large segment of the industrial sector as well
as the consumer market, with its extensive range of plastic ware
manufactured at its new 100,000 square feet factory which is located
in the Makandura Industrial Zone. Equipped with the most sophisticated
Injection Moulding, Blow Moulding, state of the art equipment, their
product range includes crates, boxes, packaging solutions, furniture,
house hold plastics, as well as toothbrushes.
Phoenix Industries is known as a company that employs the 5S
Implementation towards continuous improvement, with strict
quality control procedures in place through every process of manufacture,
meticulous attention to detail, stacking, and mint condition delivery.
Phoenix Industries also has a distinct advantage over competition
as it has a fully equipped Research and Development Centre.
Founded in 1976 by Mr M.H. Omar, who dared to venture into unknown
territory, Phoenix Industries soon took the manufacture of plastic
ware for both the industrial as well as consumer market to a new
level.
True to its name Phoenix Industries soon rose to the top and is
still in the forefront as the largest and leading manufacturer of
moulded plastic ware in Sri Lanka.
Infact Phoenix products are now reaching discerning buyers
in Australia, while other avenues in Europe and elsewhere are currently
being explored said Prematillake.
Among their many achievements is the fact that Phoenix Industries
were the first in the whole of South East Asia to introduce the
novel hi tech in-mould labeling for the up market packaging industry.
Phoenix also has a just in time packaging facility [Solution
JIT], one of the newest packaging concepts at the Caltex Oil Blending
facility in Kolonnawa.
Prematillake also said that they were negotiating with other partners
to implement similar facilities. Over the last 3 years an
outlay of Rs 1 billion represents the quantum of investment at our
state of the art factory in the Makandura Industrial Zone.
He said that in the 3 decades of the Companys service to the
people of Sri Lanka, Phoenix Industries had built its brand on the
solid foundation of value for money and a quality that has earned
the trust of people in every industry and household. In fact
by raising the quality bar, Phoenix products are regarded as quality
material as a matter of automatic assumption and this together with
our extensive product range are our strengths.
Prematillake went on to say that there were many facts about plastic
that the general pubic was unaware of. Plastic is the most
eco friendly product in todays world, for instance if paper
and cloth bags are the alternative to plastic bags the increases
would be phenomenal.
Weight - 300%
Volume of waste - 160%
Energy requirement - 110%
Cost of packaging - 210%
Plastics do not deplete resources, on the contrary it conserves
them.
Prematillake gave an example of this in that to pack 500 grams of
coffee you would need 200 grams of glass and 130 grams of tin, whilst
in the case of plastic all you would require would be 12 grams.
We are proud of our achievements and intend to better them
in the future.
