Apparel sector in crisis meeting with Mahinda tomorrow

The country’s critical apparel leaders will meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa tomorrow and enlighten him of the serious challenges faced by the industry.

A plethora of issues including economic and diplomatic developments is threatening the survival of the export apparel industry amidst rising global competition.

A fortnight ago, The Bottom Line reported about the anger on the part of the industry over President Rajapaksa turning a blind eye on certain ill-advised recalling of diplomats by his Foreign Minister, ahead of crucial trade concession negotiations in the European Union.
