Indian author gives police the jitters

Renowned Calcutta-born author of Equal Music and
Suitable Boy Vikram Seth was allegedly harassed by Galle Police
on Monday (21), a day after the Galle Literary Festival was concluded.
Seth,
who was one of the main highlights of GLF as the festival
has come to be known, was reportedly sketching at the Galle Fort
when police demanded to know who he was and vigorously investigated
him. According to sources, Seth had managed with some difficulty
to telephone some organisers of the festival who had arrived to
explain matters to the police officials.
New
security measures in the Galle Fort area prevents visitors from
taking photographs on the ramparts of the fort and the Seths
sketching had aroused the suspicion of the police officers, The
