Dialog Telekom PLC, Sri Lankas leading telecommunications
provider and Sumithrayo joined hands recently in a bid to offer
a unique on demand support service to any one who feels in need
of some social support.
Not
limited to Dialog users this service can be accessed by just dialling
into the free short code 766 from a Dialog mobile or 0777 867676
from any other mobile or land line, which will link the caller with
a nominated befriender.Befriending, a support system
used by Sumithrayo, is the art of positive listening.
This
support system is designed to help distressed people to move beyond
their troubled feelings and explore healthier options, which can
ultimately lead to empowerment and a positive outlook to their lives.
This
method of support is carried out by trained volunteers at Sumithrayo
who are geared on to giving such support for individuals with a
variety of issues and problems.
The
long term goal of this partnership between Dialog and Sumithrayo
is to empower more people, uplift their quality of life and ultimately
reduce the suicide rate in the country.
Expanding
