falls to Soniers spin
Left-arm leg-spinner Sonier Perera with excellent bowling figures
of 11 for 91 steered Presidents College, Rajagiriya to their
third outright win by an innings and eight runs over Lumbini MV
at the Mahara Prison ground yesterday. After their first innings
score of 231 led by Sanath Silvas brilliant 118, Perera came
to destroy the Lumbinis batting by capturing 6 for 17 in the
first innings at the end of day one. Forced to follow on, Lumbinis
batting succumbed again to Pereras wiles as he captured 5
for 74. Saranga Malshan fought out a lone battle to be unbeaten
on 50 when the match ended shortly before lunch. Perera received
maximum support from his left-arm spin colleague Rajitha Chathuranga
who finished with a match bag of 7 for 89.
