UNP up against the wall!

Launches massive poster campaign against Govt. tomorrow

By Jayashika Padmasiri
The United National Party (UNP) will launch an islandwide poster campaign tomorrow against the government, for failing to curtail the sky rocketing cost of living which has severely burdened the masses.

UNP General Secretary, Tissa Attanayake addressing a media briefing, said yesterday the aim of the campaign will be to educate the people on the government’s failures and in turn seek for its immediate dismissal.

“We are going to launch a protest campaign on Thursday against the government on the escalating cost of living and the insecurity prevailing in the country. Parliamentarians, provincial councillors and the public will all participate in this campaign against the government which aims to raise public awareness,” Attanayake said.

Attanayake also said that the Rajapaksa government is trying to hoodwink the people and cover up their misdeeds in the guise of the ongoing war efforts.

“The Rajapaksa government is trying to cover up their misdeeds by making the war as an excuse. Each time the cost of living increases they blame it on the war,” he noted.

Attanayake noted that the inflation in Sri Lanka is today at it’s highest.

“The government has failed to control it. So we invite everyone to join hands with us and to participate in this poster campaign against the government on Thursday and to make the public aware of the present situation,” he added.
