Commercial Bank’s ATM network reaches milestone 300

The Commercial Bank’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) network, the largest on-line 24-hour cash dispensing system in the country, reached another milestone recently with the commissioning of its 300th ATM machine.

Located at the Brandix Casualwear factory at Polonnaruwa, Commercial Bank’s 300th ATM will also be accessible to the public in the area, and may also be used by cardholders of other banks connected to the Cirrus and Visa network worldwide, the bank said. The ATM is linked to all of Commercial Bank’s 163 branches in Sri Lanka and can be used by the bank’s customers regardless of where they maintain their accounts.

Commercial Bank account holders have the option of setting their own ATM withdrawal limits up to Rs 100,000 a day. Card holders of other banks may withdraw up to the maximum limit set by their respective banks.

The Commercial Bank ATM network processes more than 1.5 million transactions a month and dispenses an average of more than Rs 225 million each day.

Established in 1969, Commercial Bank is Sri Lanka’s leading bank, with dominant positions in consumer banking, treasury and securities markets. Commercial Bank also operates seven fully-fledged branches, two booths and 10 ATMs in Bangladesh. In December 2007, the Bank was adjudged Sri Lanka’s ‘Bank of the Year’ by The Banker, a top notch global banking magazine. This was Commercial Bank’s sixth such award. In July 2007 the Bank was named the ‘Best Bank’ in Sri Lanka by another prestigious international financial magazine ‘Euromoney’. Commercial Bank has also been rated the ‘Best Bank in Sri Lanka’ for nine consecutive years by the US based ‘Global Finance’ magazine.
