SriLankan affirms commitment to lure Middle East tourists

In a fresh strategic push to increase the number of travellers from the Middle East, SriLankan Airlines is offering Arab and expatriate residents in the region, exciting new opportunities to holiday in Asia.

Rolling out the campaign, SriLankan Airlines’ has introduced a series of special airfares to Sri Lanka.

SriLankan Airlines’ is also offering passengers travelling between Middle East and  India, a special stop over  holiday package in Sri Lanka.

SriLankan Airlines’ Regional Manager for the Middle East, Mohamed Fazeel said, “The response from Middle East leisure travellers to our subtle promotional initiatives over the past two years has been very encouraging and we have seen a steady increase in the number of holidaymakers to Sri Lanka.”

“The joint initiative with the Ministry of Tourism and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau to promote Sri Lanka in the Middle East, comes at an opportune time and we are happy to back the campaign with our special airfares and holiday offers.”

SriLankan Holidays’ – the airline’s leisure arm also launched an initial three month campaign up to 30th April 2008, offering a series of special all inclusive offers to visit Sri Lanka.

The ‘Island Breaks’ offer from SriLankan Holidays includes airfare, star class hotel accommodation with an international buffet breakfast, hotel transfers and all taxes and start at US$ 398 per person for two nights and three days.

General Manager - SriLankan Holidays and MICE, Amith Sumanapala said, “In addition to our special offers for leisure travellers, we are also actively marketing Sri Lanka as a hot spot of the meetings industry.”

Middle East travellers will also have the convenience of booking their travel over the internet at www.srilankan.aero. Online travellers can access a range of  “internet only “  offers to visit Sri Lanka and other destinations in Asia
