Toyota Lanka drives with SLT

Sri Lanka Telecom, the number one integrated communications service provider in the country has signed an agreement with Toyota Lanka, the sole distributor for the world’s No.1 Toyota products in Sri Lanka providing the company with a total communications solution. SLT was successful in providing the total communication solution on an exclusive basis after a period of ten years.

The solution includes voice telephony services, PABX infrastructure, broadband internet and Internet Protocol (IP) based branch network (IP/VPN).  SLT’s IPVPN solution connects the branches to the head office of Toyota Lanka, and is capable of carrying voice and mission critical data securely and reliably.

Speaking at the ceremony, SLT Chief Executive Officer Shoji Takahashi said: “We are very happy to provide our progressive partner Toyota Lanka with this total communication solution on an exclusive basis. Toyota is one of the best companies not just in Japan, but also world over. From SLT’s viewpoint, we aim to enhance productivity as well as make operations smoother, providing a better service.”

Toyota Lanka Managing Director Nobuhiko Kato said: “I am pleased to have partnered with SLT, a giant in the field of telecommunications in Sri Lanka. Their solution will be a direct cost saving measure and it will also make our network more efficient in providing SLT high quality services for us.”

The investment for this new solution of IPVPN allows all of Toyota Lanka’s branches, factory and head office to have access to a centralized information system and data bases at any given time, enabling effective communication. The network will be flexible and scalable, fitting in with the expansion needs as and when they arise. It also means that as the number of branches increase, the investment required to make these offices fully accessible in terms of communication is minimal. The agreement is also projected to cut down costs of inter-branch communication as well as increased productivity resulting in cost effective communication.

Also to provide broadband connectivity to Toyota Lanka, SLT has already placed the infrastructure for high capacity dedicated internet Leased Line. SLT has the largest international bandwidth for broadband services and is the only telecommunication company in Sri Lanka that operates an aggregate bandwidth of over 2.6 Gbps on its international internet backbone. The backbone consists of multiple optical fibre under sea connections and a satellite link that together operate in a complete fail-safe configuration.

The SLT internet Data Centre (iDC) provides data hosting services to SLT corporate customers with the highest international security standards.
