Orange quotes AC Nielsen audit to con firm leadership in bulbs

A relatively new comer to the category Orange Electric once again showed their leadership and marketing strength by securing the Number 1 brand position in the bulb category setting another milestone in the company’s illustrious history.

Rahman Zubair Chief Operating Officer – Lighting, speaking at the Channel Partners meet held at Kandalama last weekend, confirmed the brand’s leadership position in bulbs, based on the retail audit carried out by AC Nielsen research. He further stated that this was a great achievement for the company and the country as it was the 1st time in the lighting industry that a local brand was able to take the dominant position away from an international brand. “This achievement indicates the Sri Lankan public’s confidence in the brands quality and commitment to patronizing local brands.” Going on further he attributed the phenomenal growth of the brand to the sales team’s hard work and dedication that went above the call of duty.

Echoing the sentiments of these words Nalindra Nanayakkara Sales Representative - South speaking at the conference stated how “during the three years the sales force had nurtured the brand like a tender sapling and was proud that the efforts had now resulted in a great (oak) tree” .

Rukman Hettiarchchi – Regional Sales Manager cited that “the main success factor for gaining leadership during such a short frame of time was due to discipline at all levels.” He further stated commitment and teamwork as a norm in the division and working towards one common goal contributed to this success.

Weerasiri Adikari - a pioneer distributor stated that “Orange Electric lighting always ensured the distributors wealth was safeguarded through the investment of the brand growth”.

Dr Wickrema Weerasuriya - advisor to the Federation of the Visually Handicapped delivering his key note address at the conference, recognised the company and the brand as a CSR partner that gave dignity to Charity. He stated the organisation’s agreement to donate a part of their sales proceeds to the blind cause was a model to other companies.

Orange Electric lighting is the biggest contributor to the Blind Federation. Orange Electric lighting has contributed over Rs. 20 million towards the blind cause since 2006. It was rewarding to the company to know that it was instrumental in restoring the sight to more than 1000 deserving citizens of this country through this CSR Partnership.

Concluding his speech Rahaman Zubair said “this is a great milestone in our journey. We celebrate this laurel but we will not rest as the best is yet to come and we have a responsibility to build a great Sri Lankan brand that is socially responsible to its country, customers, and stakeholders.”

Orange Electric is a fully owned Sri Lankan Company that has built a local electrical brand that has now global presence and has been awarded with the prestigious export award, the Sooriya Sinha award and has achieved Superbrand Status for its high quality products and brand building capability.
