Eastern PC polls: Nominations starts from tomorrow

The government yesterday officially declared that the deadline for the Eastern Provincial Council election nominations is set for April 03.

The Government Defence Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, addressing a media briefing said that all steps have been officially taken for the provincial council elections to take place in the East soon.

“Nominations have been called for the election beginning Thursday, March 26th and the deadline for handing over of nominations is set for April 03. The Election Commissioner’s Department is ready for the Provincial Council polls in the East to take place,” he said.

Rambukwella also noted that the Election Commissioner’s Department has not given any decision on removing officers from the areas where operations are being conducted in the East and does not consider it advisable to do so.
