Sunday lunch for birthday

The “Breeze Bar” at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel turned out to be the perfect setting for an informal luncheon party that Dulanjali Jayakody had to celebrate her birthday. The occasion brought together her nearest and dearest friends and family, with husband Rohan to supporting her to ensure that everyone was well looked after, with good music from a duo, excellent buffet and vintage wines to contribute to the success of the afternoon. There were a range of friends from many walks of life who were present to wish her, as she is a individual whose charm is her forte and her sincerity as a friend much appreciated by those fortunate enough to know her.

Naturally there was a galaxie of styles from casual to smart casual elegance, and the hostess herself looked at her best in a salwar kameez in aquamarine striped diagonally and patterned in a floral design in white. An all white kameez exquisitely embroidered in white was the cool choice of Nirmali de Silva, with her sister too in white.

Floating white culottes Rosy Senanayake teamed with a unusual brown top. Dulanjali’s mother Hema Premadasa too opted for a simple white outfit, while Jalanai Premadasa was in knee length denims and a black top, she wore with several bead chains. Swarna Ameratunga was the only one in a kandyan saree. Kushani Gankande was in white, with Chamari Jayaratne in a blousty green top and black pants. Sharika Weeraratne used a print in black, blue and white for the top of her outfit, and Gowrie de Silva combined her cutaway armholed green top with white pants. Mandy Ferry wore a attractive skirt in shades of orange and Sriyani Samarainghe had her white top worked in a band of sequins at the neckline. A south sea island floral printed shirt Rohan wore with a straw hat which was perfect in these surroundings.
