S K Wickremasinghe new Chairman at Senkadagala Finance


Senkadagala Finance Company Limited has appointed S K Wickremasinghe as the Chairman of the company from April 1, 2008.

He was the Chairman and CEO of Chemical Industries (Colombo) Ltd, as well as the Chairman of Commercial Bank of Ceylon and a number of leading companies in Sri Lanka. These include Ceylon Tobacco Company Ltd, CTC Eagle Insurance Company Limited, Chemanex Ltd, Hayley’s Jetwing Ltd, Lighthouse Hotels Ltd and Coates (Lanka) Ltd.

Wickramasinghe, who was Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in London from 1995 to 1999, was appointed Chairman of the National Development Bank and Sri Lanka Airlines on his return to Sri Lanka. He also served as a member of several Government bodies including the Securities and Exchange Commission and the National Education Commission.

He takes over from E W Balasuriya, who steps down from the post of Chairman of the company with effect from April 1, 2008. Balasuriya has been Chairman of the company for over 30 years.
