Amba Research hosts capital markets quiz

Investment research outsourcing specialist, Amba Research Lanka (Private) Ltd. will host its second Capital Markets Quiz – this time on a grand scale.

The quiz will be held on April 5 at the Hilton Residencies. It aims to introduce students to global finance and capital markets, mainly giving them exposure to equity, fixed income and derivative markets.

“Unlike last year, in addition to universities, we will be opening up this event to ACCA/CIMA institutes as well. We are hoping to attract around 30 teams to participate at this year’s quiz,” said Ravi Abeysuriya, Managing Director at Amba Research.

Amba Research, together with CFA Sri Lanka as the strategic partner, held the first Capital Markets Quiz in June 2007.

Each team will receive a set of standard text books (Options, Futures & other Derivatives and Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management) courtesy of Amba Research.

The teams will first face a knock-out session consisting of two main rounds, leading up to the final. The final will be a specialist knowledge round covering equity valuation, fixed income, derivatives, risk management and portfolio theory.

ACCA and CIMA are Amba Research’s strategic partners for this year’s event. The print media partner is The Sunday Times and electronic media partners are Lanka Business Online and Lanka Business Report.

Amba Research was founded in 2003 by former senior research directors of leading global investment banks who have been hiring, training, and managing analysts since the early 1990s. It provides a wide range of investment and analysis support services in the fields of equity, fixed income, credit, and quantitative research.
