sponsors VB National champs CGR
The
Railway volleyball team sponsored by Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC
has clinched the National Volleyball Trophy for 2008 both in the
womens and mens categories at the recently concluded
tournament.
The Railway volleyball mens team took on the Sri Lanka Ports
Authority and the womens team took on the Sri Lanka Air Force
in the finals held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium recently.
In the mens final, Sri Lanka Railways defended their position
in a three-set straight win against the Ports Authority, while it
was plain sailing for the womens team against the Sri Lanka
Air force.
We are indeed proud to be associated with the railways volleyball
team said Kishu Gomes, Managing Director/CEO for Chevron in
Sri Lanka. As their sponsor it is rewarding to witness the
commitment the teams have shown towards the sport.
Chevron Sri Lanka came forward in 2008 to support the railways
volleyball team. Through this sponsorship CGR will work towards
leveraging the individual competencies and capabilities of the players
for the further development of the team. The organisation has also
ensured the necessary equipment is made available to the team through
this sponsorship.
Sponsorships are part of Chevrons way of doing business. Through
sponsorship of sports, the organisation is able to provide the right
mix for the brand to leverage its power, energy and strength and
at the same time symbolising the traits of the game.
Over the last ten years, Chevron in Sri Lanka has been associated
with motor racing, prokarting, club cricket, indoor cricket, rugby,
sailing, boxing, and volleyball and today the organisation continues
to sponsor rugby at national level and boxing and volleyball at
a school level. In addition Chevron also supports the Deaf Schools
in the country in their sports endeavours partnering them in cricket,
volleyball and netball. For Chevron, sponsorships are among the
key marketing tools used to reach out and communicate with its various
customers.
