ODEL bestows “Retail Employee of the Year 2007” Awards

ODEL, Sri Lanka’s premier lifestyle store, recently recognised those very special individuals who have been pivotal for the successes the brand has seen over the past year at the “Retail Employee of the Year 2007” awards ceremony. It is the tireless dedication of the ODEL staff that has seen the brand emerge as a leader in the Sri Lankan retail sector, helping to expand the brand’s network with the opening of two new department stores in Kohuwela and Jaela within the past year.Seven employees from the ODEL family were presented with certificates and awards at the ceremony by ODEL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Ms. Otara Gunewardene – and ODEL Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Mr. Arjuna Samaratunge, in recognition of their immense efforts over the past year.This special event has long been an annual event for the well renowned brand, which has over the years been committed to rewarding hard work and determination. However, making this year all that much more special, the awards were not limited solely to staff at the Alexandra Place department store.

At this ceremony, all employees of ODEL were involved, with an employee from every outlet being recognised with an award. Furthermore, an additional “Retail Supervisor of the Year 2007” award was also presented. Speaking at the occasion, CEO – ODEL, Ms. Otara Gunewardene expressed how important it was to recognise those that have excelled in their work over the past year. She added, “Our expansion plans have come along way this year, with the opening of the Ja-ela and Kohuwela outlets, and for this I wish to sincerely thank each and every person who helped us to take ODEL to Colombo’s suburbs. I firmly believe that ODEL’s successes from our inception would not have been possible without this commitment from so many members within the ODEL family.”Walking away with the ‘Retail Employee of the Year 2007’ awards were Ms. Diana Sherin Del Silva from the Alexandra Place store, Mr Dinesh Edirisooriya from the Kohuwela store, Stella Maduwanthi from ODEL Ja Ela, Mr. Dhanushka Prasad from the outlet at the Bandaranaiyake International Air Port, Mr. S. Roshan Jayathunga from ODEL’s Majestic City branch, and Ms. Chathurika Sanjeewani from the ODEL Warehouse at Dickman’s road. Additionally, Mr. Amila Kuruppu from the Alexandra Place department store was presented with the ‘Retail Supervisor of the Year 2007’ award.
