Pharmaceutical Chamber supports Health Camp in Tangalle
The Tangalle Base Hospital in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Chamber
of the Pharmaceutical Industry (SLCPI) recently held a health camp
at the Tangalle Balika Vidyala. The event coincided with the open
day of the hospital to identify and treat deceases and conditions
prevalent amongst patients in the area. The main organisers of the
Health Camp was the Tangalle Hospital Development Council and the
Presidential Secretariat.
Speaking
at the camp Dr. Nandana Dickmadugoda, General Physician of the Tangalle
Base Hospital said One of the biggest advantages in having
a camp of this nature is that we can invite various sub specialists
from other hospitals to treat local patients. We were particularly
successful in identifying patients who had E.N.T, psychiatric and
eye problems Over 2000 patients were treated at the health
camp. A medical exhibition to raise funds for the installation of
an intensive care unit for the Tangalle Bay Hospital was also held,
coinciding with the camp.
SLCPI
who supplied the pharmaceuticals for the health camp donated drugs
for ailments ranging from dermatological, pediatric, neuro, cardio
vascular, gastro intestinal, ophthalmic, E.N.T, rheumatology, genito
urinary, diabetes and respiratory deceases.
The
SLCPI says that they would be involved in several similar camps
scheduled to be held across the country in the next few months.
A representative for SLCPI said A Health Camp similar to this
was held by us at Sooriyaweva last February also in collaboration
with the Presidential Secretariat and the Ranasetha Foundation,
also coordinated by Dr. Dickmadugoda. Close on a 1000 patients were
treated for different ailments at that camp and considering the
success of these Health Camps we are encouraged to give our support
to these efforts by Doctors and the Presidential Secretariat by
providing them with the essential medicines free of cost
