Amnesty for army deserters till May 16

A general amnesty for the Army deserters who left the Army after the April 1, 2005 has been declared by the government. The amnesty commences from May 2, 2008 to May 16 midnight. Those who return to the Army during this period will not be punished. They will be reinstated to their entitlements and rank at the time of desertion.

Those deserters can reach their regimental centers for re-enlistment and other recruit deserters can directly report to their training establishments. Returnees should carry their identity papers with them when re-enlistment is sought. However, the deadline for general amnesty will not be extended after May 16.
