Coca-Cola Official Beverage Sponsor for MedEx 2008


Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd. has re-iterated its commitment to the local community once again by becoming the official beverage sponsor for MedEx 2008, a medical exhibition organised by the Colombo Medical Faculty students, showcasing different aspects of health and medicine to the public.

The exhibition will consist of 124 themes with more than 300 stalls including interactive sessions, health clinics and seminars targeting students of bio science, whilst also educating the general public on a variety of current medical issues.

Dusty Alahakoon, Country Marketing Manager for Coca-Cola Sri Lanka stated “It is with great eagerness and commitment that we are backing the Colombo Medical Faculty to inform and alert the community about the rising health concerns of the present society in Sri Lanka.”

“In the past, infecting diseases were common in Sri Lanka. Presently, the disease patterns are changing and problems such as diabetes and heart disease, which are related to our life style are becoming common” stated Prof. Dulitha Fernando - Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Colombo.

She went on to add, “We are indeed very grateful to our sponsors for joining hands with us to educate the community about these changes and preventing dire life routines.”

According to the country management of Coca-Cola, as a company that is committed to upgrade the living standards of local community by supporting value added education initiatives, the Company will continue to support and fund such educational related causes in Sri Lanka.
