from Pakistan, was in Colombo to flag off a US$ 1.5 billion
worth of projects to boost Sri Lankas energy needs. He
kicked off a Tehran-funded US$ 700 million project to upgrade
Sri Lankas sole refinery at Sapugaskande. However, bad
weather prevented him from launching a Iranian funded US$ 450
million hydro electricity project in Wellawaya. The project
was instead flagged off by Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake
and senior officials of Ahmadinejads 15-member delegation
