Junior Athletic Championships in Indonesia

pick 14-member team

The Athletic Association of Sri Lanka is expected to
send a 14-member team to the Asian Junior Athletic Championships
which is scheduled to be held at Jakarta, Indonesia
from June 12 to 15.
The Asia Athletic Association had earlier stated that
Sri Lanka could send only a six-member team for the
championships but with athletes performing exceptionally
well at the recently concluded 51st Junior Nationals,
the national selection committee decided to pick a 12-member
team which was later expanded to 14 (8 boys and 6 girls)
by the AA of Sri Lanka before sending the names for
Sports Ministry ratification.
A senior AA official said that priority has been given
to sprint events.
The team for the Asian Junior Athletic Championships

(Girls): Hiyanthi Piyadigama (Vishaka Colombo) 100m,
4x100m, Shashipaba Jayasinghe (St Josephs BMV,
Kegalle) 200m, 4x100m, Udara Ratnayaka (Gateway International
