Lanka Tourism celebrates Vesak
Sri
Lanka Tourism, in collaboration with the Bentota Hoteliers
Association, organised a series of events, to celebrate the
Vesak festival, titled ‘Vesak Celebrations 08’,
on May 19th and 20th, in Beruwala and Bentota. The objective
of these programs was to attract local, as well as, foreign
visitors to these coastal areas.
On May 19th, a meditation program was held at the Island Temple,
in Beruwala and a Buddhist sermon in English was delivered,
followed by cultural celebrations, at the Urban Development
Authority(UDA) grounds.
On May 20, a Buddhist sermon was delivered in German, followed
by chanting of pirith and devotional songs, from a specially
illuminated barge, on the Bentota river.
