The crucial vote in New York today on the re-election
of Sri Lanka to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), has emanated
considerable hot air locally as well as globally over the
merits and demerits as well as likely outcome.
Despite strong lobby against Sri Lanka being re-elected to
the UNHRC, Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe has
expressed hope that Sri Lanka might stand a chance. Full

Lanka Tourism celebrated Vesak in Beruwela and Bentota
with a series of events engaging tourists on holiday here.
One of the highlights was a sermon on Buddhism, delivered
in English, by Ven Thalawe Sangarathana Thera, at the
