Wimal leads NFF from the 2nd row

By Rathindra Kuruwita

National Freedom Front (NFF) leader Wimal Weerawansa has been relegated to a second row seat in Parliament, after the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) notified that, Anura Kumara Dissanayake had replaced him as the JVP’s Parliamentary Group Leader.

This decision was taken at the party leaders’ meeting held on Monday, where the seating arrangement of the members was discussed. Weerawansa was allocated a seat in the second row, as he is neither a former minister nor the leader of a recognized political party.

As Parliamentary Group Leader, Weerawansa was seated between UNP MP Lakshman Kiriella and JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake. According to the present seating arrangement, Weerawansa is allocated a seat next to MP Nandana Gunathilake, while JVP MP Chandrasena Wijesinghe has replaced Weerawansa.

Neither Weerawansa nor Gunathilake were present in Parliament yesterday.
