DSL
rewards innovation with starry night
Douglas and Sons Limited (DSL), the sole agent for leading
Japanese auto parts in Sri Lanka, hosted the ‘DSL Star
Night 2008’ recently at the Water’s Edge.
The event, which is an annual highlight in the Company’s
Auto Parts Division calendar, honoured the winners of the
2007 Auto Parts Dealer Competition.
DSL Star Night recognises the business achievements of dealers
over the past year and at this year’s event DSL played
host to over 700 dealers. The 2008 award ceremony was brought
alight by the evening’s entertainment, which showcased
the talents of the Sirasa Superstars and the Sirasa Dancing
Stars.
DSL Marketing Manager Auto Spare Parts Anura Fernando said:
“The DSL Star Night is an opportunity to reward our network
of dealers for their business acumen, which has helped DSL
maintain its position as the market leader in Sri Lanka’s
auto parts industry for over a decade. Innovation has been
the cornerstone of the company’s success and we believe
in recognizing that quality. At the same time DSL Star Night
is about celebrating our partnerships, while enjoying an evening
of joyful camaraderie”.
Last year, DSL acknowledged the achievements of its star dealers
by hosting them to a three day holiday in Bangkok, Thailand.
The trip concluded with a spectacular ‘DSL Awards Night
2007’, which was attended by over 350 auto part dealers
– the largest number of dealers ever rewarded and taken
on an overseas tour in the history of the auto parts industry
in Sri Lanka.
Mahinda Subasinghe of Pathma Motor Stores Kadawatha said “Douglas
and Sons has awarded their dealers at ceremonies like this
one, as well as with exciting holidays in exotic locations.
The company really knows how to show its appreciation and
that builds great loyalty among their dealers. DSL has added
value to the motor spare parts industry and I wish the Chairman
and Management of DSL all the very best for a prosperous tomorrow’.
The DSL Auto Parts Division achieved its market leadership
through its impressive range of Japanese products, including
Mitsubishi belting, NGK spark plugs, Exedy clutches, Tokico
shock absorbers, Cherry gaskets, NPW water pumps and Union
Japan filters. The pioneering arm of Douglas and Sons Limited,
the company’s product range has been extended to include
Indian auto parts; and DSL is a major importer of such parts
for both Tata and Leyland vehicles.
DSL, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in December 2006,
has grown from a very small start to the market leader in
imported tires, automotive batteries, and in automotive spare
parts, employing 225 individuals and reaching far and wide
across Sri Lanka via a 1500 strong dealer network.
The company is also a leading manufacturer and supplier of
soft toys and Organic toys, which is their newest addition
to the product range, for the international market through
famous retail chains such as Marks & Spencer, Mothercare
and other high end American buyers.
