DIMO lets Lankans drive Tata ‘Xenon’ first in South East Asia

By Quintus Perera
The launch of the Diesel single cab ‘Xenon’ is a unique combination of Dimo, HNB and Tata, said Ranjith Pandithage, Chairman, Diesel and Motor Engineering Co Ltd (DIMO) at the occasion of launch ‘Xenon’ to the Sri Lankan market, at their showroom at R A de Mel Mawatha, last week.

While ‘Xenon’ is running in several other countries, Sri Lanka is the first country the vehicle is released to in the South East Asian Region.

Pandithage said that with the launch of the TATA ‘Xenon’ they take the motor car enthusiasts into a new league altogether and for the first time ever, they have a lifestyle single pick up truck at this price with all its superb features.

Participating at the ‘Xenon’ launch, Rajan Theagarajah MD/CEO Hatton National Bank said that the exclusive lease package was worked out with Dimo and that the Tata ‘Xenon’ could be purchased with a tailor-made leasing package for an initial down payment of Rs. 5 lakhs and a monthly payment of just Rs. 30,879.

He said that this includes a Rs 1.2 million Life Insurance Cover as well as a Free HNB Credit Card. Customers have the advantage of walking into any HNB branch and having their leasing package made out for them.

He said that HNB is involved in leasing for more than a decade and is the market leader among the private sector commercial banks. In the leasing business, HNB leasing is among the country’s top leasing companies and the customers have the facility of dealing through their massive network of 171 branches spread all over the country.

Vijitha Bandara, General Manager, Tata division, Dimo said that ‘Xenon’ is a brand-new diesel lifestyle pick-up that sets the true-blood enthusiast apart from the ordinary motor car driver.

It does 10 kilometres per litre and costs only Rs. 18 lakhs and it packs a three litre Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) engine with TCIC. For driving comfort, ‘Xenon’ offers A/C with power steering which is standard. Power Windows, Central Locking and a locally fitted Audio set-up are options. The 3L DICOR diesel technology promises excellent power delivery and low fuel consumption.

Tata ‘Xenon’ is another in the range of well engineered motor vehicles brought down by Dimo. Diesel and Motor Engineering PLC is one of Sri Lanka’s foremost motor car and engineering firms and are sole agents for Mercedes Benz, Chrysler, Jeep, Tata and a host of other World Class Brands.

Viraj Wickramasinghe of the Kadawatha HNB purchased the first ‘Xenon.’
