Pro Sport Futsal Challenge 2008 - Under 19 Schools
Football (Futsal) tournament. The event will be sponsored
for the second consecutive year by Pro Sport (Hemas
Consumer Brands) which is a line of male grooming products
aimed at the youthful Sri Lankan male.
This will be a two-day event and will be held on July
5 and 6 at Astro Turf Reid Avenue Colombo 7. Sri
Lankasports.com Pro Sport Futsal Challenge 2008
will be conducted under the supervision of Football
Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) in association with the
Sri Lanka Schools Football Association (SLSFA).
The 24 schools have been drawn for six groups (listed
below) and the official draw was held at the Auditorium
of the FFSL with the presence of representatives of
all participating schools on 2nd June with a detailed
introduction of tournament rules and regulations.
Sri Lankasports.com Pro Sport Futsal Challenge
is a concept of SportsLine Marketing (pvt) Limited and
will be played for Cup/Plate/ Bowl Championships which
is a new format introduced to the game of futsal in
Sri Lanka with the generous sponsorship of Hemas Manufacturing
(Pvt) Ltd. Apart from the challenge trophies the winners
of the cup championship will walk away with the Sri
Lankasports.com Pro Sport Futsal Challenge Trophy.
Hemas Manufacturing intend giving away a certificate
of participation and valuable gifts to all the participants.
The inaugural Sri Lankasports.com Pro Sport
Futsal Challenge was held in the year 2007 and created
history as the first ever under 19 futsal tournament
in Sri Lanka with the participation of the top 24 soccer
playing schools in the island.
Zahira College Colombo was crowned as the winners of
the Sri Lankasports.com Pro Sport Futsal
Challenge 2007 worked out at Astro Turf (Artificial
Hockey grounds), Reid Avenue Colombo. It was definitely
a tremendous display of futsal by Zahira College beating
a competent St Peters College team by 3 goals to nil
in the finals to win the Cup Championship. Wesley College
Colombo claimed the Plate Championship beating Wayamba
Royal College, Kurunegala by 2 goals to 1. Dharmaraja
College Kandy emerged winners in the Bowl Championship
beating St Josephs College Colombo by 3 goals
to 1.
