The
Nation steals the show at Journalism awards
The
Nation and Rivira newspapers of Rivira Media Corporation bagged
major honours at yesterday’s Journalism Awards for Excellence
2007 held at Mount Lavinia Hotel yesterday. Our sister newspapers,
The Nation (5) and Rivira newspapers (2) won a total of seven
awards.
The Nation’s Dharisha Bastians won the Mervyn de Silva
Journalist of the Year, while Wilson Gnanadass won the Prof.
K Kaliasapathy Award for Reporting Under Special Circumstances.
The Nation also bagged the award for the Best Designed Newspaper.
The Sports Journalist of the Year Award went to Sa’adi
Thawfeeq, while Rathindra Kuruwita won the Upali Wijewardena
Feature Writer of the Year Award. Indika Sakalasooriya won
the Business Journalist of the Year Award.
Rivira newspaper’s Rasika Jayakody bagged the Denzil
Peiris Young Reporter of the Year Award while the Merit Award
for Cartoonist of the Year was won by Asanga Indunil Weerasekara.
