Lankan hopes are on Susanthika Jayasinghe as she will
take part in the 200m first semifinal today at 7 p.m
local time. Yesterday she came third in the 2nd round
race with a timing of 22.94 where Roqaya Al-Gassra of
Bahrain won the first place with a timing of 22.76 and
Muriel Hurtis Houairi of France came second with a timing
of 22.89. Earlier Jayasinghe managed the 2nd position
in the first round race with a timing of 23.04.
Nadeeka Lakmali took part in her Group ‘A’
javelins throw qualifying round yesterday but failed
to qualify for the next round. She ended up in the 23rd
position.
