DFCC Vardhana Bank co-sponsors Inter Pre-schools Sports Day

DFCC Vardhana Bank recently co-sponsored an inter pre-school sports day event which was held at the Sathutu Uyana Children’s Park in Colombo recently.

The event which was sponsored by DT-Creations, witnessed the participation of approximately 700 children from a number of pre schools from around Colombo. The chief guest for the event was the popular child star Sarala Kariyawasam. The event was attended by a large crowd who witnessed the enthusiastic participation of many young children in various fun filled sports activities.

During the event, DVB’s participation was by way of promoting the Vardhana Junior savings account and its many value added benefits. Young winners of the sports event were gifted with Vardhana Junior accounts with an initial deposit gifted by the bank. The prize-give away and co-sponsoring of the event was done by DVB Head office in collaboration with the DVB Borella and City office.

Commenting on the event, DVB’s CEO and Managing Director, L. G Perera was of the view that the inter pre school sports day event was a significant way of recognising talent in children from an early age. Commenting on this Perera said, “It was a fantastic way for children to learn the value of good sportsmanship and team spirit from a young age.

DFCC Vardhana Bank has recognised the importance of laying a solid foundation for children for a bright future. That is why our Vardhana Junior savings account is designed to guarantee a secure future for young children from an early age.”

The Vardhana Junior savings account, with its super added benefits was re launched this year with the aim of encouraging children to save from a young age. The only children’s savings account which offers a dole system payment and a free life insurance cover of Rs. 100,000, the Vardhana Junior savings account reassures parents of their child’s financial security. Moreover, this savings account which comes with tiered interest rates is designed to assist children in their pursuits of higher education. The dole system payment is a one of a kind payment scheme that is especially designed to cater to a child’s higher education needs. In addition, other super added benefits such as an opportunity to follow a computer course worth Rs. 20,000 will be granted. Thereafter, the child will be awarded a loan of Rs. 100,000 to purchase a brand new computer.

One of the features of this children’s savings account is that a parent, grandparent or guardian of a child can open an account at any stage of the child’s life – from birth to 18 years of age – with a minimum deposit of Rs. 1,000. While the account will be in the name of the child, it can be operated by the child’s parent, grandparent or guardian. One of the many benefits of the Vardhana Junior savings account from DVB is that interest rates will be calculated in 4 tiers, which means that the child will receive higher interest rates as incentives for increasing his/her account balance.
