world
The European Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will hold a
forum on Preparing Sri Lanka to succeed in a carbon
restrained world on Tuesday, 30th September 2008 at
the Earls Court of Trans Asia Hotel from 8.30 a.m. to 1.00
p.m.
It is organised in partnership with Carbon Asia Private Limited
with the support of The Delegation of the European Commission
to Sri Lanka & Maldives & The United Nations Development
Programme.
The ECCSL continuously strives to strengthen and promote economic
and business co-operation between the Sri Lankan private sector
and the European Union.
ECCSL in partnership with Carbon Asia Private Ltd., aspires
to not only create wide spread awareness but to further steer
the Sri Lankan Private sector towards adapting environmentally
friendly best practices and contributing towards the achievement
of reduced Green house emissions and mapping Sri Lanka as
one of key contributors towards Green sustainability and advancement
on Clean Development mechanism projects in Sri Lanka.
This forum will serve as an opportunity for the Sri Lankan
business community: On awareness creation on the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its Kyoto
Protocol and linkage to sustainable development; To have access
to current & future trends on policy making at Global,
Regional and country level; To gain insight on the importance
of strengthening and contributing towards Green house gas
emission in Sri Lanka by the Private Sector; To gain insight
on the on current and future green Initiatives adopted by
private sector internationally and its potential; To gain
insight on the opportunities provided to the private sector,
Carbon Trading Options and potential in Sri Lanka; and To
learn about the Institutions and Structures that support carbon
finance and sustainable development (global and local).
