Stock Market losses top Rs. 100 billion

Miserable run persists as Colombo Bourse heads for its worst year; Market capitalisation down by Rs. 240 billion from all time high of Rs. 938.6 billion achieved February last year

The miserable performance of the Colombo stock market persists much to the chagrin of investors, as year to date loss of value topped the Rs. 100 billion mark yesterday.

The Colombo bourse lost Rs. 14 billion in value yesterday bringing the total so far this year to Rs. 104.8 billion in terms of market capitalisation.

Appeal Court dismisses Lanka Ventures petition

Case over Inland Revenue assessment; Company announces Rs 235 m contingent liability; To seek redress from Supreme Court

The Appeal Court on Monday had delivered a judgment dismissing the Lanka Ventures petition and rejecting the writs sought by the Company over a matter concerning the Department of Inland Revenue making an assessment to the tune of Rs. 235 million.
