Nithyakalyani bags Jewellery Exporter of 2007 Award
Wellawatte Nithyakalyani Jewellery bagged the Best Jewellery
Exporter of 2007 award in the large category at the recent
National Chamber Export awards held at the Hilton Colombo.
Nithyakalyani was adjudged the winner from among so many jewellers.
The award was presented based on export performance, number
of employees, market and product development, effective management
of marketing, brand marketing and diversification.

for more than 30 years and this award is a definite recognition
of Nithyakalyani’s leading industry position as a strong
exporter,” said A.P Jayarajah, CEO of Nithyakalyani Jewellers.
Nithyakalyani was set up in 1978 as a retailer of jewellery
in the southern metropolis of Colombo. In 1991, Nithyakalyani
expanded its business by going into manufacturing with three
goldsmiths. Today, Nithyakalyani Jewellers own an impressive
modern showroom at Wellawatte, which displays an exquisite
collection of diamond, platinum, gold, white gold, silver
jewellery along with an array of gems and semi-precious stones.
More than 30 goldsmiths work at Nithyakalyani today side by
side qualified jewellery designers who put out a wide range
of designs that caters to every age, taste and style.
“Our success can be attributed to the fact that we place
a lot of emphasis on quality of the jewellery we offer and
the authenticity of them as genuine 22 kt gold. Each item
produced at our showroom goes through a quality inspection
process prior to being tagged and sold,” Jayarajah said,
who is himself is a Diamond Graduate and is an accredited
jewellery professional of the Gemological Institute of America
Nithyakalyani is also one of the few jewellers in town that
provide a certificate of quality on request.
Since 1992, the company has also been exporting their high
quality jewellery and has a customer base that is as wide
spread as Australia, United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Dubai and
Singapore.
In recognition of their unmatched service, the company has
received many accolades that include the Merit award in 2005
in the gem and jewellery category in the National Exporter
award, Silver award in 2004 also awarded by the National Chamber
of Exporters, and a Merit award in 2003 awarded by the National
Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA).
Nithyakalyani has invested heavily on installing modern technology
in their impressive showroom at Wellawatte to serve every
customer better while offering their favourite pieces of jewellery
at an affordable price.
“Although we are often known by the public as a specialised
dealer of Indian jewellery designs, we have recruited designers
and have over the years expanded our business to make jewellery
for everyone’s taste. Today we find a lot of young Sri
Lankans and several foreigners walking into our showroom,”
Jayarajah said.
“Our vision is to be the customers’ first choice
for jewellery for every occasion. We have come out with many
novel designs to meet these varied tastes and requirements
as one would see when they walk into our showroom. Customers
can even design their own jewellery at the Nithyakalyani showroom
Jayarajah further added.
