Sports Minister to resolve crisis with BCCI

‘I have power to replace Ranatunga as IC chairman’

MUMBAI: Sri Lankan ministries are now involved in resolving their cricket board crisis with the BCCI. This was revealed by Lanka’s Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge.

Speaking from Colombo on late Monday night, he said, “I am aware about the tussle going on between the cricket boards of these two nations. I am now going to hold talks through our foreign ministries with the Indian cricket board soon and try to resolve the grievances, if any.”

“We support the BCCI-run IPL and make sure our players participate in the IPL next year,” he assured.

The minister also said that he has power to replace Arjuna Ranatunga as chairman of the interim committee but may decide doing against this considering the budget period in Sri Lanka. However, under President’s instructions would do so after few weeks, it is also learnt.
